Heinrich Khunrath (1560-1605) was a key alchemical writer at the turn of the 16th into the 17th centuries. His best known work is the ‘Amphitheatre of Eternal Wisdom’ of 1609. This contained a series of circular engraving, now widely known.For each of these mystical, alchemical diagrams, Khunrath provided a introduction revealing the significance of each figure.These have not previously been readily available in English, but here, Adam McLean has provided a straightforward translation.Some years ago Adam McLean made coloured versions of the engravings, and these have been used in this book.
