For thousands of years, indigenous and traditional societies have understood mental affliction not as a medical problem, but as encounters with powerful forces—or demons. By externalizing these forces, we gain the ability to see them clearly, confront them directly, and transform fear into strength. Demons are both external beings, and internal forces, and in this ritual, we will confront these primal, powerful forces.
This evening offers a rare chance to step into the ancient Tibetan practice of Chöd (“Cutting”), a ritual created by the great female mystic Machik Labdrön. Through rhythm, mantra, visualization, and guided ritual, you will face the deepest parts of your subconscious—your demons—and learn how to reabsorb their power into awareness.
What you will experience:
- A guided journey into your subconscious to meet and give form to your demons
- The Chöd ritual: mantras, mudras, and visualizations leading to the Body Offering, the climax where fear is cut at its root
- The story of Machik Labdrön and the origins of this profound tradition
- How ritual works as a tool to rewrite subconscious patterns
- A shortened Chöd practice you can bring home for moments when fear and darkness arise
- This is not a performance—it is a living ritual. You will not just watch, but take part, engaging body, voice, and mind in a transformative process of fearlessness.
Practical Information:
Please arrive 15 minutes before the event begins.
All participants are asked to leave phones outside the temple room to preserve the sacred space.
If you have a drum, please bring it—the rhythm will guide the ritual.
This will be a powerful and unforgettable evening of ritual, transformation, and liberation. Step into the mystery, confront your demons, and discover the freedom on the other side of fear.
