The thunderpath is a project which aims to spread spiritual sciences for the benefit of all people. For most of human history, we have lived with the certainty of spirit: that what we truly are is timeless, eternal and beyond the ebb and flow of the world of our everyday world. The purpose of all inner traditions to reveal man’s true nature to himself. When we know ourselves as eternal, that which is temporal loses its power over us. For the last century, we have done away with the world of spirit, and inhabit a paradigm where the human beings is nothing more than flesh and bones – arising from nothing but biology – and going nowhere but to disintegration.

We live in times devoid of meaning. The purpose of the modern existence is the accumulation of wealth and pleasure. This emptiness causes immense suffering. Loneliness, mental illness and degeneracy has never been more widespread. In order to silence the voice of spirit within us, we seek stronger and stronger stimuli, louder and louder distractions.

Even though our times have lost touch with the timeless and the eternal, the world of spirit is always approachable, by anyone and at all times. Once we touch the world beyond this one, and catch a glimpse of the light of our true nature, there is no going back. Meaning and purpose are more addictive than any drug, TV-show or social media.

We seek to connect people to tradition, to each other, and to the greater pattern in which all of our lives are entwined. We aim to offer people the tools they need to ignite this spark of spirit, from which there is no return.

This is symbolised by the thunderbolt. The thunderbolt is one of the oldest symbols of spirit in the world. It connects earth to heaven, and brings awakening and illumination. This thunderbolt is the hammer of Thor, the bolt of Zeus and the Vajra of Indra. It is a symbol of the soul: it touches the earth and illuminates the world, yet is beyond any form. The thunderbolt is the formless in form: the voice of spirit.

The thunderbolt moreover represent the connection – or kinship – between earth and heaven. Spirituality is not something to be practiced for five minutes every day, or doing the weekends, but a force that should permeate every aspect of our life. There is no need to practice spirituality or to turn away from our everyday lives – the work is to realise and recognise that the entire world is an expression of spirit, and that everything we do can become an inner practice.

We want to be the training ground for that way of being. Therefore, we aim to connect people to spiritual traditions of various kinds. Through multiplicity, we approach unity. Carl Jung said that the self cannot be seen directly. It must be experienced through all its facets and expressions. All courses offered by the thunderpath is one such facet of the self: one window into the light of being. Different methods are suited for different people at different points in life.
