Summary of the class
In this first class, you will receive an introduction to astrology: history, fields of application and introduction to the birth chart. We will then study the structure of the Zodiac: its mathematical structure, the different divisions of the Zodiac, the modalities (cardinal, fixed and mutable) and finally the four elements: fire, earth, air and water.
Casting your horoscope
In order to cast a birth chart, you can use the site www.astro-seek.com, create an account to store your data base, then enter your birth informations (date, time and place, the time needs to be accurate) on the following page.
Study
Before you watch the next class, cast your birth chart and print it. For your study, I recommend you to print several versions of your birth chart and colour / graph them according to the following questions, in the way layers would work. This allows to give you more insights and to add several ways of looking at your chart. Then, observe and analyse it using the aspects we studied in class:
- Are most of the planets located on the upper hemisphere or on the lower hemisphere? Are they placed in a balanced way between both? What does it tell us about the horoscope?
- List the following planets and angles according to the modality they fall into: Ascendant, Sun ☉, Moon ☽, Mercury ☿, Venus ♀, Mars ♂, Jupiter ♃, Saturn ♄, Midheaven. Do you find a modality highlighted or are the placements well-balanced between the three modalities? Do you notice a modality missing? What do you make of looking at the modalities in your birth chart?
- List the previous planets and angles according to the elements they fall into. Do you notice one element particularly highlighted or on the contrary missing? What can you learn from that?
